Vocational Education for Strengthening the Sino-German Ties

Vocational Education was the key focus at the Innovation Dialogue Forum organized at Berlin. The event which explores deepening education ties between China and Germany was attended by Sun Chunlan, the Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China and Anja Karliczek, Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research.
Skill development via vocational training is a crucial aspect of the massive Chinese education system. Their training programs developed in collaboration with the industry ensures the success of vocational education.
This is the most striking similarity between China and Germany. Germany’s training philosophy, which imparts theoretical knowledge and practical skills are considered to be exemplary.
In her keynote address, Sun Chunlan called for greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of vocational education, which will leave to better understanding and trust between the two nations.
Sun’s highlighted the need for continuously improving the training for teachers and also for better collaboration between educational institutions and industry.
Karliczek responded by recognizing the need for “high-quality talents” for a country’s economic prosperity and the critical role played by vocational training in this.
Sun Chunlan also mentioned Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Germany in 2014 and how the mutual consensus reached at the time helped deepen participation in the field of vocation education.
The event held at Berlin was attended by more than one hundred and fifty representatives from both the nations. Government officials, representatives from schools and colleges participated in the event with members of various industries.
While Germany has been China’s biggest trading partner in Europe, there have been speculations in the media about troubled relations between the two nations.
