Job growth in the UK IT industry expected in 2020

The UK IT industry saw the biggest jump in the number of applications in 2019. The growth is projected to continue in 2020, where more roles will be available for application than any other industry in the UK job market.
The IT industry saw the second-biggest jump in job applications year on year according to CV library, an independent job. This is consistent with job postings recorded in 2019, which also showed IT jobs taking second place in the total number of jobs posted per industry.

The growth of the UK IT industry

The job applications in 2019 saw a growth of 28.6 percent in 2019 compared to 2018. This was just slightly below the hospitality industry, which saw a growth of 28.8 percent in the same period. Construction, design, and property were the other industries that made it into the top 5 categories in job growth last year.
Lee Biggins, CEO and founder of CV-Library, said he was pleased to see this growth despite all the political uncertainty experienced last year.
He continued by saying,

We’ve noticed that this is an ongoing trend across several sectors, which should instill confidence in employers who may have put their recruitment plans on pause in the run-up to the election; especially as January is consistently one of the best times to hire.

The report also indicated that there were more roles advertised last year for IT than any other industry. The report indicated that the IT industry had 11.7 percent more roles advertised than any other industry.
Begins said this is a clear indication that the IT job market has become competitive over the last few years. He said,

While the competition for jobs may be higher in some sectors, this increase in job applications is great news for businesses looking for new talent, Don’t wait to take advantage of this growth and start advertising your latest job roles now.

He indicated that this is a positive trend for both employers and employees. The report is a clear indication that in 2020, the IT industry will continue experiencing growth in the UK market.
