UK failed to equip youth with data skills

Data expertise fundamental in the present age

According to Robert Halfon, today’s education system has failed to equip youth with vital skills, such as data analysis, needed in the present and future workforce.
Halfon, a Conservative MP in the United Kingdom (UK) also notes that the UK has not lived to expectations of equipping the youth with the expertise necessary in the digital economy.
A review by the Royal Society Curriculum in 2018, acknowledged the importance of incorporating aspects of data science into both secondary and primary education. Data usage has become ubiquitous, and the UK ought to adapt to this trend.

Data skills triggered by disruptive technology

Technological advancements have significantly altered the workforce. As a result, it has been forced to adhere to these changes accordingly.
Human adaptability has, therefore, been made to undergo a considerable examination. For instance, data analytics is continuously becoming urgent and crucial.
Advanced structures have come to comprehend the value of extracting authentic data.
As a result, the demand for data analytics and scientists has been skyrocketing based on their prowess of analyzing data for better decision-making.
Most companies employ both non-technical and technical personnel. Present data analytic tools have been simplified in such a manner that both non-technical and technical workers can utilize them.

Data is the new trend

The importance of data has been propelled by technological advancements, such as the internet. As a result, it has become fundamental for people to be able to read, communicate, and comprehend data.
Data has become crucial in the current global society because of technological innovations. As a result, it has become necessary for people to be equipped with skills such as data analytics as they are instrumental in decision-making.
For instance, HR professionals should not depict data as an extremely technical skill as its understanding is crucial.
Data storage is also being enhanced by blockchain technology, whereby it is stored in a decentralized network. For instance, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has tapped into blockchain technology to enhance data storage for medical reviews.
