Transgender students pick online educ, 1 in 3 bullying fixed?

transgender

Bullying has been a big problem in the U.S., with the most common victims are transgenders, persons with a disability, and those with special education needs and disabilities.

Bullying against transgender students

Bullying is a common problem in U.S. schools today. Based on data, 1 out of 3 U.S. students admit that they are bullied at school, fewer cases when it comes to cyber-bullying. Most cases of bullying happen at middle-school, most of which are verbal bullying and social deprivation.
The growing social awareness makes it look like bullying has worsened, but in fact, it is already decreasing. The increasing number of bullying cases is due to awareness and coming out in the open, most cases of bullying before are not being brought up and carried personally by the victims.
According to research, the population with most cases of bullying are those from the transgender community. What is disheartening is that students suffering from bullying due to gender orientation are more prone to committing suicide.

Transgender Awareness Week

In support of transgender awareness week, the LGBTQ community voices out to the educators to commit to limiting these cases of bullying at school.

No child should spend a life that is unsafe, aloof, separated, and feeling hopeless. No matter the size, color, shape, gender orientation, every kid deserves to feel safe and happy at home, school, and the community.

Schools from California, New Jersey, Colorado, and Illinois are having LGBTQ history classes in order to neutralize the ignorance regarding gender orientation. Some schools even go to the extent of constructing additional neutral bathrooms to accommodate transgender students.

Online schooling

Unfortunately, not all schools follow the same policies. There are still those that do not mind much on issues surrounding trans students. The most common issues that lead to disregard of trans students’ welfare are funding and lack of training guidelines. For families that do not expect schools to understand their situation, the alternative for learning is possible with the help of online education.
Online schooling is not far from traditional schooling, maybe even better. It offers flexibility in learning hours, comprehensive lessons, and convenience on the part of the student. Most importantly, online education eliminates the presence of verbal and physical abuse.

Accepted is the key word here. We all want to feel it. If that is the case, education should be for everyone, no specific race, color, or gender orientation. We are lucky enough that in today’s technology, we can now have alternative options to pursue our education needs.
