The Philippines is all set for 24th August school reopening, DepED says

school reopening

The 24th August school reopening will go on as scheduled, according to the Philippine’s department of education. There will be no in-person classes once the school reopens.
The department of education(DepED) has expressed confidence that school reopenings on August 24th will go on as planned. This comes amidst resistance from some teachers and student groups who argued that it will still not be safe by August to reopen schools.
The groups had argued in favor of pushing back school reopening to a later date, citing the spread of coronavirus, which is yet to be contained in the country. They wanted to push the date to a later date or early next year when they anticipated the spread of coronavirus may have slowed down.

DepED assurance on school reopening

However, DepEd said that everything was in motion to ensure that the reopening is seamless. They continued by saying they will be able to deliver all basic educaiton services without hiccups and assured parents of high-quality education when the schools finally reopen.
President Rodrigo Duterte has already indicated that there will be no in-person classes unless a vaccine is found. He also signed into law a measure that would allow him to move, postpone and reschedule school reopenings depending on the coronavirus situation in the country. The move came as the country continued to fight the spread of coronavirus.
DepEd also addressed the opposition of school reopening by indicating that majority of parents, teachers, and students were for the reopenings. He cited data that showed that over 22 million students had already registered to return to schools, with a majority of students registering in public schools, a total of 20.7 million students.
DepEd also emphasized that school reopening will be exclusively distance learning, citing fears of the spread of coronavirus. They continued by saying they were well prepared and had already prepared class lessons for all students.
