School lunches should come with reusable water bottles

Parents in the West Dunbartonshire area in Scotland have been urged to give their children a filled reusable water bottle with their school lunches. This recommendation comes as an effort to reduce the negative impact human activities have on the environment.
According to experts, a reusable water bottle will also serve as a reminder for students to drink enough water every day.
Scottish Water, the national water and sewerage services provider, recently commenced an initiative, which aims to remind families that reusable water bottles are an easy and affordable way to help the environment while saving money.
The company has also created the ‘Your Water Your Life’ campaign, which urges users to refill their water bottles from the tap, to help the environment.

School lunches are important

School lunches are one of the main meals for children, which makes them very important for the children’s development and immune system. Considering this, pupils should always have water available, as this is one of the main components of a healthy diet.
While there have been increased concerns about the rise in costs parents face throughout the summer holidays, investing in a reusable water bottle is an easy way to reduce long term costs for plastic water bottles.
According to Brian Lironi, Director of Corporate Affairs at Scottish Water, children should know from a young age that while water is essential, there are ways to consume it without harming the environment. In addition, Mr. Lironi added that Scotland has some of the best tap water in the world, and families should make use of that natural treasure.
