Descendants of Filipino veterans of the Korean War may now apply for scholarship grants under PEFTOK’s Veterans Association program.
PEFTOK offers scholarship grants
The Philippine Expeditionary Force in Korea Veterans Association Incorporated has announced the extension of its acceptance of applicants for secondary and tertiary levels for the A.Y. 2020-2021. All descendants of Filipino War veterans during the 1950’s Korean War are entitled to avail the Association’s scholarship grant.
Filipino soldiers played a vital role during the 1950’s Korean War. The Philippines was among the first respondents from Asia to send soldiers as an aid during the Korean War.
Around 7,500 Filipino troops were deployed during the Korean War. A total of 100 casualties were recorded on the Philippine side, while 16 soldiers went MIA.
Mechanics for Application
PEFTOK will only allow one benefactor of the scholarship grant per war veteran for the A.Y. 2020-2021. Descendants with fellow benefactors from previous scholarship years are permitted to apply for this term.
Repeaters of the grant for three or more years won’t be allowed to reapply for the scholarship.
For interested applicants, they are required to provide the following basic requirements: an active personal email, Social media account on Facebook, complete school records, proof of relation along with the veteran’s information, and others listed on their site.
