Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) bagged the number 2 spot in the annual Nature Index (NI) rankings for Young University leaders.
This accolade is granted by a pool of 82 high-quality science journals and attained by NTU Singapore’s fete of contributing to these journals author-affiliated researches.

Nature Index is a worldwide database of author affiliated researches in an independently selected pool of 82 high-quality science journals. Research journals by NI are updated monthly with a yearly rolling window upon upload.
Nature Index conducts an annual ranking of top contributors to high-quality research journals. This year’s ranking for young universities category placed NTU Singapore at No.2. The category of young universities includes all universities established within 50 years or younger.

NTU Singapore’s contribution to high-quality research journals pushed its credentials to be a part of the world’s elite young universities.
Other ranking organizations like QS has ranked NTU Singapore at No.1 for the last 6 years, while Times Higher Education ranks them at No.3 for the 3rd consecutive year. The ranking varies depending on the criteria set by these governing bodies.

The president was proud to point out the key factors in NTU’s rise in rankings, making it to the top of all major international university rankings.
We have been very succesful in attracting top talents from Singapore and other parts of the world. It includes students, staffs, teachers, and post-grad students. In addition, we make sure that the research journals we produce are not just for academic excellence ratings only but also for a more meaningful use in society.

Before the Nature Index’s annual ranking, NTU was also praised for climbing six places to rank No.43 in the recent US News and World Reports annual ranking for world universities.
NTU was also included in the global top five in five major subject areas: Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Material Science, Engineering, and Chemistry.
Asia’s science and technology universities are giving their North American and European counterparts a run for their money in terms of being the world’s leading research powerhouses.
