NOC programme nurtures incredible talents in Singapore

NOC programme

The NUS Overseas Colleges or NOC programme has been pivotal in enabling Singaporeans to attain outstanding expertise.
The NOC programme was launched in 2002 by the then president of the National University of Singapore (NUS), Shih Choon Fong.
He had recognized the void in Singapore when it came to producing more enterprising graduates as the internet had started to boom.

NOC programme’s notable benefits

Fong established the NOC programme together with other professionals to send Singaporean students to intern at Silicon Valley based on its outstanding technology reputation.
The idea was that as the students undertook their entrepreneurship course at Stanford University, they could intern at Silicon Valley, and this could make them more innovative.
Presently, this programme has expanded to other technological hubs, such as Israel, Stockholm, Beijing, and Shanghai.
The gains rendered have been exceptional because, for the last 17 years, at least 3,300 students have been beneficiaries.

NOC programme produces Singapore’s most prominent young entrepreneurs

This programme has been instrumental in nurturing some of the most successful young Singaporean entrepreneurs as they are the brains behind multimillion-dollar firms.
Singapore has realized that one of its key resources is its people. As a result, strategies, such as the NOC programme, have come in handy in accomplishing this objective.
The other efforts being incorporated by the government include presenting grants to startups and investors, as well as establishing training platforms at universities intended at grooming talent.
Friendly policies have also been put in place as it is easier to launch a business in Singapore, as evidenced by the presence of regional headquarters for various US tech giants, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google.
On the other hand, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) bagged the number 2 spot in the annual Nature Index (NI) rankings for Young University leaders.
This accolade is granted by a pool of 82 high-quality science journals and attained by NTU Singapore’s fete of contributing to these journals, author-affiliated researches.
