Newcastle College has teamed up with one of the most recognized hotel brands in the region to develop specialized classes, which will help train students the necessary skills to be able to start working in the hotel industry after graduation.
Gainford Group, which specializes in the hospitality sector, has expressed concerns that there will be shortages for essential roles in some of the group’s hotels – namely chefs. To prepare better for the future, the group decided to team up with Newcastle College and develop programs, which will give students the necessary skills to, later on, enter the hospitality business.
The program will be considered a first step in the apprenticeship to become a chef in one of the group’s many hotels around the Nort East region of the United Kingdom.
Newcastle College focuses on practical skills
This initiative between the Gainford Group and Newcastle College shows how much the current business and economy need skillful additions in their ranks. This program will be focused on providing the practical and theoretical skills necessary for succeeding in a particular niche.
The fact that the Gainford Group is looking to educate personnel for specific positions is an indicator that the labor market will be in need of capable workers with practical skills. Probably this is why in recent months many initiatives across the globe started popularizing vocational education. Just one example is the recent joint project between China and Germany, who are looking to boost student exchanges in vocational training. The initiative between the Gainford Group and Newcastle College will boost practical education in the region.
