Mobile AI app in Singapore helping businesses implement social distancing

Mobile AI app in Singapore helping businesses implement social distancing

A new mobile AI app will be able to send notifications to users when social distancing is not observed. The application relies heavily on artificial intelligence to analyze images and decide whether social distancing is being observed or not.
Countries across the globe are slowly coming back to life, lifting restrictions, and opening back economies. The mode of reopening, however, has been different in countries lifting the restrictions.
One thing is clear governments around the world are calling for social distancing to be observed after the economy is reopened. The World Health Organization has also advised governments lifting restrictions to ensure their citizens observe social distancing. Now with reducing cases of coronavirus across Europe and Asia, this measure will help prevent a second wave of coronavirus.
Singapore, for the second time, is reopening its economy after a fast failed attempt that resulted in a second wave of coronavirus infections. The government has indicated they will do the reopening in an ordinary manner to ensure they don’t record new cases as a result of this decision.

Social distancing using a mobile AI app

Social distancing has been placed at the heart of the reopening strategy. One firm that is based in Singapore, AI Hub International, is now leading the way on the best way to approach social distancing using technology. The company has developed a mobile AI app called SafeDistancer, that will be useful in hotels and other populous areas to determine if social distancing is observed.
The mobile AI app will take an image, analyze it through specialized artificial intelligence algorithm and return results on whether social distancing is being observed. The mobile AI app will be able to send an alert to users when they are too close to each other.
The mobile AI app will also be safe as the company indicated it had no intention of carrying the data obtained over their networks. The data will also not be saved, ensuring images taken by the app are safely deleted, further improving its security feature.
The development of the mobile AI app is a clear indication of how technology is being used to fight coronavirus. As the economy in Singapore reopens, the application will be used in malls, restaurants and shopping centers.
