The Milton Park Primary School has received a great new addition to its sports program – professional-looking football jerseys and shorts, awarded to them by the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme. The scheme is an initiative by the United Kingdom Football Foundation, in an attempt to promote sports among young children.
The Premier League is one of the most significant football events on a global scale, and young children often watch it and support their favorite teams and players. Some part of the appeal of the tournament comes from the fantastic sports kits that players wear during games.
For Milton Park to receive this support, two teachers from the school had to go through the detailed application process. Once all applications were evaluated, the school was contacted, and the good news was announced.
Milton Park, schools and sports
Milton Park Primary and many other schools across the United Kingdom are struggling with making students interested in sports programs. The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills has recently released a statement saying that sports classes should be an essential part of schools’ curriculums.
In a modern-day society where technology is occupying a huge part of our everyday life, physical activity has been in decline. To battle this tendency, it is essential that children find a passion for any given sport during their early education.
Sports equipment is just one way of sparking children’s’ interest in sports classes; however, this is not enough. There should be a collective effort to boost sports programs across schools, to keep children in shape and good health.
