KeyBank Foundation donates $1.2M to Burchfield Art Centre for expanding education programs

KeyBank Foundation is awarding $1.2 million in two education grants to Burchfield Penney Art Centre in Buffalo. The total money is in partnership with the First Niagara Foundation, along with the Cameron and Jane Baird Foundation.

Burchfield Penney Art Centre situated in Buffalo States SUNY campus has received the education grants totaling to $1.2 million to be used for expanding education programs in the institution.

KeyBank Foundation supports thriving art center

KeyBank Foundation activities incorporate the important values of diversity and inclusion. Foundation support is achieved through philanthropic investments, corporate contributions, and employee volunteerism.
Precisely, the education grants will go into developing a new center for artmaking by families. Cynthia Baird, a Burchfield Penney Trustee reiterated that they were thrilled by helping in the expansion of the museums art programs.
Burchfield Penney offers education in arts and community mobilization that give insight to youth through exposure to a rich diversity in the creative arena. The additional education grants totaling to $225,000 will go into upgrading the institution facilities at Burchfield.
The newly built creativity space will house the education faculty, as well as the community mobilization of resources center. Being the first Niagara grant, it complements and solidifies the institution’s vision towards a tower of learning in the area.

Engage youth from Western New York

Since 1966, the institution has been engaging in art education and the education grants will go a long way into enabling Burchfield to engage youth from Western New York for many years into the future.
According to Dennis, the Burchfield  Director, these grants serve as a clean bill of health for the institutions focus on education and family.
The Burchfield Penney Art Center is dedicated to the vision of American master Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967) and to the diverse art and artists of Western New York.

Exhibits

The Burchfield Penney is open from 10 am-5 pm on Saturday, April 4. In addition to the exhibitions on view, The Center offers a free tour at 2 pm. The Museum Store and Burchfield’s Cafe by Oliver’s are also open during museum hours.
IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME, PAINTING IN BUFFALO, 1832-1972 is on view through May 31, 2020. Presented by M&T Bank and The Tower Family Fund, Inc.
