The LG CNS “IT Dream Project” was officially launched on Tuesday, which means that middle school students around Seoul now have the opportunity to take part in coding courses for free.
The project is a four-day coding camp, organized in collaboration with Sejong University in Seoul, where the classes will be taking place. The IT Dream Project is part of LG’s social contributions program, and it aims to show middle school students how coding can be fun and exciting. Many youngsters believe that coding is complicated and tedious, which is why LG is trying to shift children’s perspective.
Information technology is of South Korea’s best-developed industries, and LG is trying to spark interest in kids from a young age.
What is the IT Dream Project?
Throughout the four days of the coding camp, professionals from the IT affiliate of the LG Group will teach the students to code through interactive games and exercises.
Students from about thirty schools in Seoul, who participate in their respective IT clubs, are invited to join the project. According to the organizers, these children have already shown serious interest in the field, and this four-day camp will help them improve and refine their knowledge.
As technology takes over many sectors of business and education worldwide, such initiatives can set children on a prosperous path from a young age. Online education is also becoming more popular, and the better understanding students have of the inner workings of information technology and the digital world, the more prepared they will be for the future.
