Innovations in technology are providing solutions that make assessments more engaging, accessible, timely, and reliable.
Breakthrough innovations in technology
We are now in an era of information technology that continues to evolve; with the advancements we have, we can incorporate technology into our daily tasks to provide more efficient outputs.
In the education system, there is an experimental breakthrough that involves gaming concept, AI technology, and automation into the K-12 assessment program.
This modern based assessment was introduced by the Northwest Evaluation Association’s Product Innovation Center. Mike Nesterak, the senior director is spearheading this program. Nesterak’s 30 years of experience in the educational assessment industry with numerous involvement in different assessment methods has shared his insights in coming up with innovations in technology applications.
Assessments need to be conducted in a timely fashion – which is why scheduling is also a factor to be considered in conducting the tests. Educators can get the highest efficiency from a student taking the assessment on a time window where he is ready to take the test and not in a schedule that the body imposes.

With innovations in technology, the educator can easily personalize the content and timing of the test that is appropriate to the student without having to be physically there. Adaptive tests make use of computer-based exams to facilitate the assessment process. Studies show that it is a better method for measuring the true knowledge and ability of each student.
Gaming concept in e-learning
The interaction in gaming consoles is a vital component that researches found to attract young generations. Incorporating game-like interactions in lecture materials will create more enthusiasm and interests when it comes to learning. Game concept learning is now being used in math-based topics such as place value and use of tables and graphs.
Artificial Intelligence
Acquiring assessment data from a large volume of respondents and translating to quick results is the advantage of AI technology. The need for manual checking is being eliminated with the help of an AI that will do the checking and computing in a much quicker manner.
AI technology can also help in speech development lessons, where a student can learn and interact with an AI to learn proper diction, vocabulary, and different language just by accessing a computer-based learning program.
Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality assessment is a futuristic program that puts a student into different scenarios using VR and use that assessment to rate their response to real-life situations eliminating the risk of accidents.
With the combined innovations in technology that we have today, educators can get the full measure of a student’s full potential academically and in real-life applications.
