The gaming laptops were personally handed over by San Pablo City Mayor Loreto Amante himself. A total of 103 gaming laptops were released to DepEd Laguna School Division Office.
What ired netizens seeing the post is the manner of how the local officials of San Pablo City used government funds at a time where the country’s economy is at a standstill.
Based on the current market, TUF Gaming, the variety of laptops handed out by Mayor Amante, belongs to a special series of gaming laptops produced by well-known manufacturer ASUS.
The TUG Gaming series costs way more than an average laptop build if online learning is concerned. This series is mostly made for gaming which requires higher computer specifications. The cheapest model around is about P39,000.
Untimely and insensitive
Though the intent of local authorities to help out educators implement online learning, things could have gone way better if they acquired good quality laptops just enough to serve its purpose for online learning.
