An education television has been launched under the Tamil Nadu Government in India to enable children to learn at home. 
The television shall feature shows for children in class one (I) to twelve (XII), it shall also place adverts available in the industry, and other related issues in the education industry.
This education television was the idea of the School Education Department ‘Kalvi Tholaikkatchi’ to improve children-learning outcomes. The launch of the television program by Chief Minister K Palaniswami also motivated the School Education Minister, KA Sengkottaiyan to applaud the achievement.
This channel will be available on TN Arasu Cable TV network (channel no. 200).

An educational TV channel in Punjab

A similar idea was brought into reality in Punjab in 2016. The Education Minister, Dalijt Singh Cheema, also launched an education television dedicated to assisting individuals preparing for specialized examinations. It is also meant to provide educative content for students in the middle-grade school
Additional programs aired by the channel are career counseling and current affairs programs. EDUSAT is a program in Punjab available in 3,400 schools. The program provides education contents with animation and multimedia during learning hours in the schools.
Swayam Prabha scheme
Swayam Prabha schemes available on 32 direct-to-home (DTH) television channels are scheduled for students in rural and less IT accessible areas.
The channel was launched by Union HRD ministry employing the satellite – GSAT-15.
Contents created by NIOS, IGNOU, NCERT, NPTEL, IITs, UGC, and NCERT for the identified purposes are aired five different times in a day to allow for flexibility with the students. 

The Direct-to-Home channels provide learning resources

  1. Materials created for post-graduate and under-graduate degrees following the curriculum
  2. Subjects mostly covered are arts, science, commerce, performing arts, social sciences, and humanities, engineering, technology, law, medicine, agriculture, etc.
  3. Contents for 9-12 levels which help children at these levels prepare for exams, also helps children understand all their subjects respectively.
  4. Curriculum-based materials for long term learners in different fields
  5. Learning contents to assist students in class 11th & 12th prepare for competitive exams
