The University of Southern Denmark (SDU) has been presenting Danish government scholarships to particular overseas applicants in recognition of the fundamental role played by international students.
The Danish Government Scholarships are presented to interested students through the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
Indian candidates can apply for Masters of Science (MSc) in Engineering (Mechatronics) or MSc in Engineering (Electronics).
The selection process will entail enlisting the best performing and qualified applicants. Those chosen will benefit from an automatic scholarship.
Indian students vie for Danish scholarships
Indian students have availed of the chance to further their higher education at SDU in the engineering field, and enjoy monthly stipends and educational expenses.
The financial help is instrumental in expanding the knowledge base of Indian scholars as they will be provided with overseas exposure.
The scholarships are composed of two parts, namely a grant and complete tuition fee waiver. It will be instrumental in catering for living costs of about three thousand Danish Krone (DKK 3000) monthly before taxation.
Other available Danish scholarships
Higher education in Denmark is free for students from the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. Similarly, those participating in an exchange program enjoy free studies in Denmark. Free tuition is also granted if at the time of application, a student has a:
- Permanent residence permit (‘permanent opholdstilladelse’)
- Temporary residence permit that can be upgraded to a permanent one (‘midlertidig opholdstilladelse mmf varigt ophold’)
- Residence permit as the accompanying child of a non-EU/EEA parent holding a residence permit based on employment (§9a and §9m of the Danish Aliens Act – text in Danish)
Scholarships help alleviate financial constraints
Indian students have been benefiting from various scholarships. For instance, the Indian School Muscat’s Alumni (ISMA) recently raised nearly eighteen thousand five hundred and fifty dollars ($18,250) that could sponsor approximately fifty (50) students.
The world has come to appreciate the importance of scholarships as they offer underprivileged and best performing learners the chance to propel their expertise. For instance, the Chevening Scholarship recently announced that its application process was open.
Nevertheless, scholarships, at times, face various challenges. For example, Rutherford Scholarships recently got a tech hitch. Moreover, Alaska universities have eliminated at least two thousand and five hundred (2500) scholarships because of funding cuts.
