A cheaper and more efficient carbon dioxide trapping device developed by MIT engineers

A new device is able to trap carbon dioxide more efficiently than what is currently in the market. The device uses electricity, making it possible to use renewable energies to run the device. The device is being hailed as a future gadget that will be helpful in the fight against climate change.
Engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a device that can trap carbon dioxide from smokestacks. The device, when adjusted properly, is also able to remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. This technology is much more efficient energy-wise and cost-wise compared to devices currently available in the market.

Removing carbon dioxide

The device was first published on Energy and Environmental Science, which described it as working using the same principals as a battery. The device absorbs carbon dioxide from air passing through its electrodes. The making of the device is very flexible and can be adjusted according to different. The device can be adjusted for both large scale and small scale carbon dioxide elimination.
The device has been hailed by experts who see it as a vital component that will be very useful in the fight against climate change in the future. The device will be able to reduce one of the greenhouse gases, thus reducing its impact on the environment.
The device also has multiple uses, unlike the current devices. The device can also be used to scrub carbon dioxide from factories and power plants. It can also be used to remove greenhouse gas directly from the atmosphere. This is much harder to do with the technology in the market because the concentration of the gas in the atmosphere is very low.

Uses one gigajoule of energy per ton of CO2 captured

The device also uses electricity. This gives it an edge in fighting climate change because, unlike other devices, it can use renewable energy to remove carbon dioxide. The device also uses approximately one gigajoule of energy per ton of carbon dioxide captured. This is 10 times lower than other devices currently used for the same purpose.
This technology will have a lot of applications in the future, especially in the race to combat the adverse effects of climate change. Its creators are optimistic that technology will become adopted by multiple companies and countries that are working on reducing greenhouse gases.
