Having a college degree is indeed very costly nowadays, the cost is such a burden for low to average income families. In Ohio, the government has an existing program that helps students go to college, the cheaper way.
How costly can a college degree be?
As of 2017, only 69.7% of high school students decide in proceeding for a college degree. Due to the high cost, many prefer to start working early instead of going to college. This is the reason why there is a growing workforce in skill-based jobs as compared to office-type professionals.
But in the state of Ohio, they came up with an education program helping students lessen their expenses by taking up college courses early in high school.
The College Credit Plus allows students in high school to take up college credits at no cost at all. High school education is free and state-sponsored, the CCP program gives students from grade 7 to 12 opportunity to enroll 30 college units per year. College units earned during the program will be credited to their total degree units as they enter college.
Unit courses and textbooks are all paid for by the distrtict school as mandated by law. The cost may vary on based on number of enrolled students and affiliate college or university the students will enroll

CCP is free for all public high school students who wish to gain degree units from a state-owned Ohio Univesity or College, according to the Ohio Department of Education.

Interested students should fill up an application form and submit it to the high school guidance counselor. The counselor will act as the mediator between the university and the student applicant.
A student must be accepted first by the University to the program before he can participate with the CCP program.
There are certain conditions that should be met in order to avail of the program freely. The student must fully understand that this program should be taken seriously.
Earning college units translates into increased time responsibility in learning. It will gradually decrease the time for leisure and other extracurricular activities. Students might even be obliged to go to school during spring break due to differences in academic year schedules.
Failure or withdrawal from the course enrolled through CCP will oblige the student to pay all expenses made by the state during the period of the schooling. Applicants are expected to take the program seriously. It will certainly their best option to get a college degree at a cheaper cost.
