Changes in school culture
This COVID-19 pandemic has taught the education sector many things: flaws in the system were exposed, the lack of resources and efficiency, and finding innovative ways to respond.
Just as when teachers became complacent about the whole process of traditional teaching, here comes the new challenge brought about by the pandemic. Education has long gone in need of innovation, just that some educational sectors are too attached to the traditional, which leaves less room for progress.
Technology is an important tool to improve school culture, but in some countries where the ratio of old teachers overpopulate younger generations, shifting to tech-related methods is a hard bargain. Old teachers prefer traditional teaching, which blocks the way towards innovative tech learning.
Technology enables rethinking
Technology is an evolving process; applying technology to education provides limitless ways for students and teachers to innovate and come up with bigger and better ideas.
Since the lockdown in different cities was initiated, the education sector has adapted by going online. Switching to online learning is the next step to learning, which was left in the shadows right before this pandemic came.
Online learning allows students more room to explore and acquire additional knowledge. The internet is so full of information, and if paired with a good interactive learning workspace, the students will be exposed to more critical ways of learning.
Deliver equal chances of learning
The main obstacle to online learning though is accessibility. Internet and gadgets are not accessible for everyone, especially those from rural areas.
This pandemic taught us to find ways to deliver equal chances of learning to everyone. The whole education sector is in the trial phase, once we overcome what has happened during this pandemic, it can be assured that school culture will not be the same as the post-pandemic era.
