The traditional hat tracing back to the Song Dynasty in China is a simple and fun way to keep social distancing among students.
History of the traditional hat
A hat with two long wing-like designs on both left and right sides. This idea came from the Song Dynasty, as the emperor requires his ministers to wear that particular hat, to limit murmuring and chatting around while the court is in assembly.
With the design of the traditional hat, a person wearing one cannot whisper or talk secretively to another without being fairly noticed. It promotes order during councils meetings and ministry assemblies.
A historian from the City University of Hong Kong also added that even Song emperors during that time are also wearing the same kind of traditional hat.
Simple and funny way of social distancing
As classes are set to resume in certain cities in China, school officials are looking into using the idea of the traditional hats from the Song Dynasty, to make a creative way of practicing social distancing in students.
Students will design their own hats, depending on which cartoon character, animal, or thing that they like. All hats should have a wing-like design on its left and right side. The total length of the wings should not be under 1 meter or three feet.
