Cancellation of the school education board exam
After the consecutive cancellation of important exams in India, the school education board in Punjab has also decided to put on hold the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) exams until the end of the month. The decision was made in response to the worsening case of COVID-19 worldwide.
The following exams are among the listed canceled exams by the school board: Class 8 practical exam, Class 5, 10, and 12 written exams. The tentative date for the resumes of exams is by the end of the month, but depending on the situation of the COVID-19 outbreak, it might be extended indefinitely.
Parents and students are advised to continue monitoring the PSEB website for additional announcements regarding exam schedules and class resumption. Changes in schedule will only be disclosed if the initial schedule on March 31st becomes improbable for any exam to take place.
Safety Measures in Punjab
With international media reporting about severe cases of the coronavirus in different countries worldwide, the Punjab government decided to impose additional precautionary measures in assuring public health safety. Public transportation is paralyzed in the meantime to lessen the congestion of people and decrease the chances of virus transmission.
Mass gatherings have also been discouraged, such as public convocations, huge events, watching movies, and any public gathering with more than 20 people involved. Health-related establishments, restaurants, and grocery stores are allowed to operate to provide basic needs.
Schools and education institutions on all levels are closed for now to help control the spread of the contamination. School staff and students are advised to remain at home and refrain from using the class suspension as a means of hanging out or vacation. The suspension of classes is made to limit public contact and lessen the risk of contamination of the virus, which is up to now has no discovered vaccine.
