PHILIPPINES – Yesterday marks the official opening of the 30th South East Asian Games. The event received a grandiose opening ceremony feature the different varieties of Filipino culture.
Spectators were amazed and in awe after witnessing the performances of many famous Filipino celebrities during the program. It was indeed a great venue to showcase world-class Filipino talent to the world.
Students from different prestigious universities in the country and the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group composed the large delegation of performers during opening night.
The performers amazed the crowd and none other than Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte during their showcase of the different Filipino culture as part of the opening performance of the event.
The opening ceremony took place in the world’s largest indoor arena, the Philippine Sports Arena.

Heartwarming welcome from the President of the Philippines

After a long and controversial preparation for the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterete showered the event with his presence and formally opened the festivities with a heartwarming message to the athletes and spectators alike.
Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah was also in the opening ceremony, showing support for his country’s delegates.
The parade of athletes from the participating nations was accompanied by the appearance of 11 beauty queens, including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzback.
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and Filipina Boxing world champion Nesthy Petecio lit the cauldron marking the official start of the South East Asian Games.
Other attention-grabbing spectacles during the opening were the colorful fireworks display and the animated light show by drones in the sky,
The growing number of successful student-athletes in the Philippines is attributed to extensive scouting in rural areas and a wide scope for scholarship beneficiaries, which are inclined to sports, literature, and arts.
Sports and education are a good combination for students wanting to pursue college but cannot afford financially. Athletes are hoping that the government will see endorse more sports scholarship programs to seek more talent in secluded areas in the country.
