The Common Sevice Centers (CSC) plans to make the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) digitally empowered, by giving them technology access at home, especially in the primitive and the rural areas.
CSC, back in 2014 used to have 891 centers in J&K, which was a state back then. Since then, the number has almost quadrupled making it more than 3100 centers throughout the UT. Further, there are 4200 village councils (gram-panchayats) in which more than half of them have been digitally connected by the CSC.
CSC has also been successful in creating better employment opportunities, providing digital infrastructure and thus leading the nation’s Digital India campaign.
UT has faced many problems since the article three-seventy (370) got abolished. Even before that, there were many obstacles like terrain, connectivity, digitization for new businesses to boom.
A sound business, even though it is small, can progressively work for better financial and employment issues in J&K.
Technology is the main pillar for Digital India mission
Unemployment, due to lack of businesses and infrastructure is going to see a turning point from here. Each CSC takes a minimum of 6 hires to function effectively for their various services. Thus by education and technology, the goal and the motto with which article 370 was scrapped can be achieved.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s rule, any village which has a population of more than 5000 should have their own bank. However, the UT still has almost 100 villages that lack the basic financial institution. CSC has been actively working as per its mandate to get these villages the benefits of banking, insurances and digital payment services.
Online consultations with the doctors and healthcare centers, which is a must, considering the climate and the political situation of the UT, are being made accessible by the CSC. Generic allopathy, homeopathy, and ayurvedic medicines are being availed at local stores.
By providing healthcare, employment, financial institutions, and education, the CSC has worked brilliantly towards the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir UT, all possible with technology.
Digital India is a flagship project of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Alongside the launch of this project is the training of 42 lakh teachers to meet the requirements of the United Nations for fast-tracking digital education in India.
