California students struggle with jobs and expenses

According to a recent survey, California students experience the most considerable difficulty in juggling several part-time jobs in combination with their university courses, in order to cover all their living expenses.
Data from the survey revealed that more than forty percent (40%) of students in both rural and central parts of California report that they cannot benefit from a secure housing situation. This is extremely worrying as the pressure of not having the security that you will be able to stay in your home is immense.
In Los Angeles, one of the most popular student locations in California, about thirty percent (30%) of students reported that they are having issues with securing a permanent housing arrangement, and about thirty-three percent (33%) declared that they struggle to have constant access to food.

California students and college costs

While some universities in the United States have started offering free higher education to students who don’t have the means to cover their tuition. However, a lot of students get into their university years without anticipating the living costs, which are not included in tuition fees.
California students have it even tougher as this is one of the notoriously expensive areas of the United States.
Considering this, their task becomes unimaginably hard, as their focus and time need to be split, and most importantly balanced, between part-time work, and schoolwork. The insecurity of not having a permanent living space is another stress factor.
According to researchers, some students have even had to sleep in their cars, or couch surf for extended periods of time. Such living arrangements make it unimaginably challenging to focus on preparing university-related tasks, and actually achieving the grades most of these students want.
The survey concludes that out of all California students, sixty-four percent (64%) reported that their learning process is obstructed by one of two main factors: college tuition costs, or living expenses. Both of these factors are purely financial, and the government and higher education institutions should try to look into ways to make university education more accessible.
