Yamato, a Japanese logistics company, has successfully run the first test flights of a new unmanned delivery system. The unmanned aircraft was developed as a joint project with a US helicopter manufacturer.
The first test flights were carried out at an airfield in Texas, and each lasted for a little more than four (4) minutes.
This technological development comes at a time when Japan’s workforce is gradually diminishing, as the population is getting older, and young people are increasingly fleeing the country in search of better opportunities.
According to Yamato, the unmanned delivery aircraft can be officially launched as soon as 2025.

Technological advancements are continuously entering various industries, with logistics, medicine, and education being at the forefront of development.
Unmanned delivery aircrafts might sound like an item coming from a sci-fi movie, but Yamato is making them a reality.
The test devices were able to accelerate up to a speed of one hundred and fifty kilometers per hour (150 km/h). The carrying capacity of the machine is about thirty kilograms (30 kg), making it an efficient and speedy logistics device.
Delivery drones are becoming increasingly popular all over the world. E-commerce giant Amazon has also launched a test project, which aims to introduce parcel delivery with the help of small unmanned aircrafts.
Sooner rather than later, we are going to be witnessing a shift towards unmanned devices, as they reduce costs and boost productivity. But are unmanned delivery aircrafts as good a prospect for the working population as for big corporations and entities like Amazon?
