Teodoro Ariel Publico, a teacher from the Philipines, set out to give English language classes to more than forty (40) representatives of the Cambodian Senate.
The language course was developed as a joint program between the embassy of the Philipines and the Cambodian Senate, and classes took place at Cambodia’s Institute of Foreign Languages.
According to members of the Senate, the government of the Philipines has continuously helped education in Cambodia, with numerous initiatives and programs.
A representative from the embassy has said that such programs, and especially English language classes, are part of an effort to create a united ASEAN community, with strong professional and personal skills.
English language classes are important
English language classes are essential for the professional and personal development of government and senate officials.
Education in the Philipines has been steadily improving, with new bills introduced to make it more inclusive and accessible.
Programs like the one initiated by the embassy show the improvements in the way language classes are carried out and made available to students. Not only that, but such initiatives strengthen the diplomatic and political relationship between Cambodia and the Philipines.
Since 2014, when Mr. Publico arrived in Cambodia, he has been carrying out classes with the help of the embassy. The first class he taught was formed of only eighteen students; however, as Mr. Publico proved his worth, more participants signed up.
This year, he will be teaching his third set of English language classes, and more than forty (40) Senate members have signed up.
