$1.5 billion 7-year education plan unveiled

$1.5 billion, 7-year education plan unveiled

The education plan is lauded as having fulfilled the commendation from Foundation Budget Review Commission which found out that the schools in the state were being under-funded to a tune of one billion dollars ($1B) annually
Massachusetts states lawmakers have come up with a plan that would see an almost two billion dollars ($1.5B) increase in the education spending in the next 7 years. This bill improves the quality of learning and also targeted to low-income students. If it is implemented, it will close the educational gap between these students and facilitate schools that are in low-income areas to benefit more.
The bill is also meant to provide extra funding for education. It is expected that the English language methodologies that are used and the resources available to teach the language will also increase significantly. Senator Jason Lewis opined:

I think it’s fair to say that if this bill passes into law we will have the strongest and most progressive education funding system in terms of how we reflect the needs of low-income students.

He has been involved in the entire process of coming up with this bill and is one of the chairs of the joint committee on education.

Health care cost covered in the education plan

The bill also has room for increased funding based on the funding formula that has been stipulated in the bill. It will also allow for a review of how health care for its employees is deployed. It will provide a chance for these employees to have a more fair share of their health care cost taken care of.
New school buildings will also be on the rise since there will be an increase in the funding of buildings to a tune of one hundred fifty million (($150) million. This increase in learning centers will enable more teachers to work, an increase of students enrollment and a better teacher to student ratio. The special education system will also have a significant increase in funding.
The education plan is lauded as having fulfilled the commendation from Foundation Budget Review Commission which found out that the schools in the state were being under-funded to a tune of one billion dollars ($1B) annually. The bill is committed to balancing the inequality that has been experienced in the state funding of the school programmes.
The bill now moves to the senate and many people are optimistic that it will pass. Governor Charlie Baker, however, has not yet declared his official stance on the bill but his office has already said that they appreciate the efforts by lawmakers to come up with such as bill.
